The Presidential Timeline of the Twentieth Century

In honor of President’s Day, which will be held on Monday February 18, there’s a web site called the Presidential Timeline of the Twentieth Century.  This web site provides a single point of access to an ever-growing selection of digitized materials from the collections of the thirteen Presidential Libraries of the National Archives beginning with Herbert Hoover.

This web site has an interactive timeline and a section for educators.  The educators section has Educational Activities that provide students with an in depth understanding of historical events by using original documents and photographs.  These activities include topics such as the stock market crash of 1929, the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the atomic bomb.  The Resources section has a collection of links that teachers can use in teaching primary sources and presidential history.  The Multimedia section has audio recordings and videos to be used for educational activities.

The link to the Presidential Timeline of the Twentieth Century can be found within the History Government Information Subject Guide as well as other web sites about the presidents.
